Last year, high-fashion Australian model Andreja (formerly Andrej) Pejić made the brave decision to publicly come out as a transgender woman. The runway favorite (and a muse of Jean Paul Gaultier) underwent reassignment surgery, transitioning from male to female. She also officially changed her name from Andrej to Andreja. This was a milestone for the LGBT community, as well as a major step for the fashion and beauty industries. After fundraising nearly $65,000 on Kickstarter (with the help of Jared Leto, who shared a message of support), the model will be sharing her story of transitioning in a film titled Andrej(a): The Documentary. She hopes the documentary will be released in 2016.
